Yesterday started the beginning of the 31st week... less than 10 to go if the baby decides to come on time (which has not been the general consensus with our friends babies -- our friend Sharon was induced last night since the baby is a week late and our friend Jen was due on Saturday and is still waiting)... from what we hear, first babies are usually late.
We had a great weekend -- went up to the wine region just north of Santa Barbara (called Santa Ynez) for our friends Chris and Davida's wedding. It was a gorgeous wedding. The rehearsal dinner was in the barrel room of a winery -- with one long table for 130 people going down the pathway between all the oak barrels full of wine -- which was really breathtaking. The ceremony took place on the winery under 2 huge oak trees and the reception was in a converted barn. It was all very elegant and tons of fun. On our way back down to LA, we stopped in Santa Barbara and wandered around Old Town for a bit and then met our friends Jeffrey and Lauren (Lauren is due the 2nd week in January) and their friends who stopped in California on their way to Hawaii for their honeymoon for wine tasting (for the non-pregnant people) and dinner at the kosher winery in Oxnard. Its the Baron Herzog winery and they have a very fancy and very delicious (and kosher) restaurant there, where we ate amazing bison and steak. It was a lot of fun.
This week promises to be fun as well. I am going to a Indian Food cooking class tonight with some girl friends to celebrate a friend's bday, tomorrow we are going to the Crowded House concert at the Greek theater here in LA, Wednesday night we are interviewing a pediatrician (its just something that is done here -- we have no idea what we are going to ask, but figure we'll get a feel for his vibe and decide if we like him), Thursday night we're having dinner with our friends Wittney and Cody and Friday morning we are off to Yosemite with Milo for Labor Day weekend, getting back Monday night. Of course at some point, we'll be stopping by the hospital to visit our friends and their new babies. Yosemite will be our last pre-baby trip. After we get back, we'll be in and around LA for the remaining weeks, hanging out with friends, doing whatever we can to get our house ready for the baby without actually setting up a room, etc. and then enjoying the chagim.
Have a great week!
